Sources close to the Miami Dolphins confirmed Thursday night that inside linebackers coach George Edwards is leaving to take the defensive coordinator's position at Florida.

I am not exactly sure why this is a great hire. Hopefully somebody with more knowledge of the situation can post details of what makes Edwards the right guy.

If this guy had some experience with Nick Saban, I'm comfortable with the hire. Nick's MO is defense, and strong defense has propelled Urban Meyer's Gator teams for the past five years.

Hey, how about the SEC winning yet another Mythical National Championship! Nifty!

His resume is solid. He has mentored some pretty good linebackers in his career. I'm not a big fan of Miami's linebacker play recently, but they seem to have a bit of an issue in age (Porter, Taylor) and talent (everyone else).

Charlie Strong was a holdover from the previous coaching staff, so Meyer doesn't get credit for hiring him, but that said, he was smart enough to hold on to him. My feeling is that you don't have prolonged success as a Head Coach if you don't know how to surround yourself with talented coordinators (Hence the "Bill Walsh coaching tree" idea). I trust Urban on this hire.
