Dropping like flies

First DeMarco Murray and now Demarcus Granger. This might explain why Dan Mullen will be in the booth on Jan. 8th, since Coach Mullen loves to attack the middle of the line with his running game.

yes and it only works when our scat backs hit the tackles and roll .... thank God this will be DM last game.

Stoops graduated from Spurrier University with a minor in Sandbagineering.

rumors are flying that OU had more injuries to 3 players yesterday - a starting DE, Gresham and Inglesias. Good possibility that 2 of the 3 are out of the game.

Aligator, yes thank God that the OC that has had us playing in two BCS title games in three years is leaving. Now we can hire a "real" coach.

Seriously, where did all this Dan Mullen hate come from? I noticed it starting towards the beginning of this year, and it kind of boiled over when we lost... I just haev to wonder, WHY?

I mean, yes, he calls a pretty small number of different plays in a given game, but:

A) They WORK
B) They WORK WELL
C) When they don't work, HE CALLS DIFFERENT ONES.

Who cares if he calls "run up the middle" with four different running backs for 60 times in a game, if the average is still 7.3 yards/play... no really. Rainey, Demps, Harvin, and Moody all average 7.3 yds/attempt or better.

So again... why all the hate? He proved with Leak, he'll happily change his system when it's not working...

The one thing about Mullen that MSU fans need to know is that his offense is highly dependent on a truly dual threat QB, otherwise the Bulldogs will look like Michigan did this year.

I guess maybe Stoops should've played his backups more instead of gleefully running up the score every week.

Seriously, can this be anything other than karma? And karma's not done with Stoops or the Sooners yet! This is only the beginning! MUAHAHAHA!!!

What, you thought I'd go the whole time before the game without saying anything? :)

Urban Meyer has gotten us to the BCS Championship. My mother could call plays with these athletes. Remember what Urban did with the spread with other coordinators? He will plug someone else in and go even further with these athletes.

MSU with Danny Boy will suck.

MSU with anyone will suck, that's a shitty job.

Seriously, Aligator, I'm trying to figure out if you just don't feel offensive coordinators don't do anything or what the deal is with you. If you like Urban Meyer then why question his choice of coordinator, especially since it seems to have worked rather well. 4 years, 2 SEC titles, 2 BCS CGs, 1 BCS Championship.

Alligator,
Give Dan "the man" Mullen a break, he's only 36 years old but he's been an assistant coach 14 years, 8 with Meyer since meeting back during the Notre Dame years. Even if Mississippi State is a perennial cellar dweller it's an honor to coach in the SEC and he brings a resume that that might fit in well there. As far as Meyer, he's probably the number one coach out of Ohio right now and that's saying a lot these days.

Not to mention the offense wasn't exactly the team weakness last year.

I don't think Mullen's solely responsible for the offensive success lately but he's nowhere near the weak link either.

I could not find where non contributors could post blogs. I came across an interesting article I wanted to share. Maybe some else could post this on the blog:

Interesting version of the Auburn situation that was sent to me a few minutes ago… Who knows if it is true or not, but intersting anyway. Came from a credible source.

Wonder what in God's earth motivated Auburn to reach way up to Iowa State to hire Chizik? It seems right after the embarrassing 'Louisville incident' a few years back, Tubbs and agent Jimmy Sexton had it written into Tubb's contract that if Auburn ever went behind his back again to look for another coach, it would cost them $5 million. Soooo, when Bama beat Auburn this year, one of Auburn's biggest Alums - not Lowder but Jimmy Raines (the guy who owns and does all of those Yella Wood commercials) made a call to Houston Nutt and asked what it would take for Nutt to leave Ole' Miss and come to Auburn. What the Yella Wood alum didn't know was (a)Nutt was happy at Ole' Miss and (b) his agent is Jimmy Sexton.. Nutt called Sexton and told him of the offer. Sexton called Tubbs and told him what was afoot and that Auburn had violated the 'Louisville clause.'
Tubbs resigned the next day or so, told them they were in violation of his contract and demanded his $5 million. In return, he wouldn't say anything. Auburn accepted the resignation, but Sexton wasn't through. Now that he knew he had Auburn over the proverbial barrel, Sexton told them they would be wise of them to hire another of his clients. We all know that Jimbo Fisher and Muschamp are staying put so they were out.

Yep. You guessed it. Chizik's agent is none other than Jimmy Sexton.....and that's how he became the next head coach at Auburn.

That story is entirely and completely believable. This is what happens when boosters run the school. LOL

Not buying it. No way is a public university, in a poor state like Alabama, in these financial times, going to wave 5+ million goodbye just because some booster made an unofficial inquiry.

Anon,

Do you know who actually pays a coach's salary? Hint: It's not the University (at least not the bulk of it).
