Cheeseburger Charlie's Mouth
This is an updated version of post I made last season.
"One of the teams that jumped us had the same game that we had. Another team that jumped us wasn't even playing. They were home eating cheeseburgers and they end up jumping us. That befuddles me."Since Charlie uttered those words his team has gone 13-17 over 2+ seasons.
-- Charlie Weis complaining about being leapfrogged in the polls by Tennessee and Florida on October 25, 2006
Florida, on the other hand, has gone 27-5, won conference championship and a BCS championship with an opportunity to add one more of each this season.
Looks like Meyer made the right decision coming to Florida, where the players eat plenty of cheeseburgers.

I like mine with lettuce and tomato...
Sorry Domers, Urban Meyer is still a GATOR - we may wear jorts down here, but we don't feast on cheeseburgers.
OK, enough of my sarcasm. IMHO Notre Dame made the right decision in giving a vote of cofidence to Charlie Weis, albeit a tepid one. NOW the pressure's really on; not only does he need to being in a decent recruiting class, he needs to find a way to overcome two crappy seasons in a row - or else it's "goodbye Charlie".
The best thing for Notre Dame right now is to receive an invite to a bowl game since they're eligible, prepare well for it and try to end the year on a positive note with a win to boost morale and move forward.
I still remember being puzzled by the media's coverage of the Meyer/Weis hirings. I heard several commentators say that Notre Dame was fortunate that Meyer took the Florida job because Weis has such football savvy.
Foley deserves major kudos for that hire.
Aaron,
I believe what they actually said was "meatball savvy."

You made me laugh. Thanks.
ND might have told Meyer-"Look, we're going to keep Weis around for one more year, just for you and against our better judgement, time for you to get another MNC. But you better do it this year or next, we can't wait forever to hold your dream job for you. Then, you will have nowhere to go but down at UF. So you come here and prove to the world that you can turn a crappy program into a championship program. Don't worry about the money--plus, we will build you a huge dome to put your house in, with palm trees and beaches and climate control it to your specs."
Weis has gotten one more year so far to equal the winning percentage of their previous fired coach. Getting rid of Willingham proved a good idea, but hiring Weis, not so much...
