I just hope Coach Meyer does the right thing and boots his ass off the team NOW. One of the teams' core values is to not abuse women; Rickerson was foolish - and to have done this right when our team is on a roll makes things worse.
Anon #2: What #1 probably meant to say was that no woman deserves to be violently touched or beaten by any man.
Coach Meyer did the right thing and kicked Rickerson off the team later today based on what I read at ESPN. Right now we need to get ready for Vandy and the rest of our season, and what Meyer didn't need right now was to have to deal with a couple of thugs.
jj gator& dolfin for a Behavioral Science majors u'd expect more than the slappin choken abuse gettin revenge on the bitch well there's other ways like Urban callin the timeys theres ways to stick it too da bitches however classless but keep them bitches in line right?
No reason to abuse the Jackass. There's a lot more to the Meyer edict about treatment of women than a casual glance would reveal. It is more about an overall atmosphere that demands High moral values being instilled in the team. It's all about discipline, also.
Unfortunately, if these charges are true, it really does preclude this guy from returning to the team. He needs to shape up, do his time, then pursue a different line of work...
Waering that Gator uniform should be considered a privilege by our players, and it's a privilege that can easily be taken away should any player violate team rules to the point that the punishment warrants dismissal from the team.
As I've said before, violence against women is something that can't be tolerated in our society, and that's exactly the message Coach Meyer is trying to convey to his players.
The days of the Ron Zook Country Club ended once Meyer took charge of the program, and what once would have been dealt with more leniently in the past is dealt with more sternly now. This is what our players need to really understand, and I hope that with Ronnie Wilson and Jacques Rickerson recently being dismissed from the team that Meyer has made that clear.
Are you kidding me? to say Meyer runs a tight program is comical. Ronnie Wilson was already allowed back on the team (although w/o scholarship) for discharging a firearm! Rickerson was already in trouble once for dope. Not to mention the flying sandwiches and other shenanigans. Meyer came in with a big bark, but has proven to have a small bite. It seems more like the 3 strikes and you're out rule around our program.
Anon, keep in mind that at Utah Meyer had handled a situation with Marty Johnson the same way; he had dismissed him after a DUI but gave him a second chance, but unlike our guys he walked the straight line.
Do you think for one minute the ZOOKER would have kicked these guys off the team? That would be like saying that bears don't shit in the woods.
And lest we forget, he did make the Marcus Thomas dismissal final during the 2006 season after he blew a second chance. Compared to Ron Wussyass Zook, Urban Meyer does have bark to his bite.
I can’t say enough about my two favorite blogs Get the Picture and Saurian Sagacity. There are not two more consistently thought-provoking and analytical college football blogs on the internet.

Rare is the SMQ shout out for the sole purpose of shouting out, but even rarer is the high substantive quality of disinterested naysaying in progress at Saurian Sagacity, where poster Mergz is steadily blowing up notions of "National Championships" new and old... -Sunday Morning Quarterback

Good riddance.
He's the worst defensive back on the team, and he cost us the Michigan game.

He needs to be kicked off the team...there is no excuse for laying hands a woman...
Depends on how you lay those hands...

"One of the teams' core values is to not abuse women..."
Um, shouldn't that be one of those things that's so obvious it should go without saying?
Seriously, if coaches these days are actually having to make it a point to tell players not to abuse women, how sad is that?
Dolfan, it NEEDS to be said. Violence against women should not be tolerated ANYWHERE.

Good post, Rick.
