Recruiting Class Gaining Strength

We hinted in the post below that top rated defensive tackle Omar Hunter of Georgia was committing to Florida (he said as much to several folks at the basketball game Saturday night), but it now appears official. This is a big win for Florida to steal a player of Hunter's caliber from the Dawgs "backyard".

Hunter's committment moves Florida to 11th overall on Scout.com, but will likely place us even higher on Rivals.com when they reflect the signing of Hunter, where they have the Gators 3rd overall (Hunter had not yet been added to the Florida class at the time of this posting).

Once again Meyer and the coaches appear to have us poised for an outstanding class.

Congrats on the pick up - Hunter's a good 'un. Tremendous first step burst.

I don't think you guys really stole him, though - at least not from Georgia. He indicated pretty early on that he wasn't interested in Athens. I'm not really sure why he decided to take an official visit so late in the game (which has now been canceled, of course).

Anyway it looks like our schools will have two of the top three classes in the conference. Again. Not too shabby.

I may have overstated the "stole" factor.

The Scout ranking does not reflect Hunter's commitment. They have us listed with 21 recruits, while Hunter is #22.
