The "Resume" Rankers

As far as I know, myself, T Kyle King (of Dawgsports.com) and the SMQ (of Sundaymorningqb.com) are the only “resume” rankers in the BlogPoll.

“Resume” ranking is the process of ranking teams based on on-field achievement only, not conceptions about preseason skill. And as suspected, this system has led to dramatic shifting of our BlogPoll ballots from week-to-week, and even exposed King to some criticism.

Well, 3 weeks in, and the ballots of Dawg Sports and Saurian Sagacity have much in common. Our top 5 are actually identical at –

1. LSU
2. USC
3. Oklahoma
4. Florida
5. Ohio State

In fact our top 25 have 24 teams in common, with the only differences being King’s inclusion of Georgia (at 25) while I included Texas A&M (at 24) instead of the Bulldogs.

It will be very interesting to see what the SMQ comes up with. But I second King’s following comment –

See? I told you resume ranking started to make sense after you gave it a little time!
