The advantages of good nutrition

"One of the teams that jumped us had the same game that we had. Another team that jumped us wasn't even playing. They were home eating cheeseburgers and they end up jumping us. That befuddles me."

-- Charlie Weis complaining about being leapfrogged in the polls by Tennessee and Florida on October 25, 2006
Since Charlie uttered those words his team has gone 4-5, with five straight losses dating back to last season. The wins were against Army, Navy, Air Force and North Carolina (Coast Guard was apparently unavailable). The losses have come at the hands of USC, LSU, Georgia Tech, Penn State and Michigan.

Florida, on the other hand, has gone 10-0, winning an SEC championship, a BCS championship and most recently demolishing Tennessee 59-20.

Maybe Charlie should put Cheeseburgers on the Notre Dame training table.

I remember how in love the media was with ND's choice of Weis. They said ND was fortunate that Meyer took the Gator job because it opened the door for Weis.

Remember the ESPN story comparing Weis and Meyer after three whole games? The experts were sure that ND had made out like a bandit.

I haven't seen a single story comparing the two now that we're three years into their coaching stints.

Good point. All I have heard is how great Weis is and he is doing a wonderful job, and what a great hire...and then I would yell at the radio "Who has he beaten?", "What has he done?". I am glad they are 0-3, but still it pisses me off that an 0-3 team still gets this much media coverage...

Charlie Weis, you should never open your mouth until you know what the shot is. The polls are based on coaches' votes and opinions, but at times the polls don't lie. LSU handed you your ass in the Sugar Bowl last season, and you're off to a 0-3 start right now - is that befuddling to you, too? It should be!

Yes Henry, perhaps Charlie SHOULD put cheeseburgers on the Notre Dame trainig table. And his own should be made from CROW.

Roaming, I agree that it sucks to see Notre Dame getting so much media coverage and other schools getting short shrift, but it's because Notre Dame's who they are that they get all the notoriety they do. They could be the worst team in college football and still get attention. That will never change.

In the end Meyer made the right decision to come to Florida, and he has a National Championship under his belt. Charlie, sadly for you it takes two hands to handle a Whopper.
