Memo to Kiffin: Put Up or Shut Up

Lane Kiffin made a public accusation that Urban Meyer committed a recruiting violation.

However, per this story from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Tennessee spokeswoman Tiffany Carpenter told The Associated Press the school would not file an official complaint to the NCAA.

Either a violation has been committed, in which case a NCAA member coach would have a virtual duty to report it, or Lane Kiffin is a liar and slanderer.

Report the violation Lane. Or shut your trap.

University of Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley issued the following statement on the matter:

“There was no rule violation and we have confirmed this with
Southeastern Conference. It is obvious that Coach Kiffin doesn’t know that there is not a rule precluding phone contact with a prospect during an official visit on another campus during a contact period. His allegations are inappropriate, out of line and, most importantly, totally false. It is completely unfair to Urban Meyer, our coaching staff, our football program and our institution. The appropriate action at this time in my opinion is for Coach Kiffin to make a public apology. His comments not only slandered our coach, but he violated SEC rules by publicly criticizing another coach and institution."

Wow. I'm not an insider, but wouldn't this kind of loose-cannon stuff alienate Kiffen from the entire SEC coaching fraternity?

Me either, Pants.

Let's see what the SEC decides to do about this latest gaffe by Kiffin - is this bozo burning his bridges, or what?

Not that I like Kiffin himself, but you have to agree that it's good for the conference and the sport in general to have this kind of "bad guy" out there. Now that Bobby is senile and Richt is in recession, we need more villains on our schedule.

What a jackass. Major Wright will knock the snot out of Nu'Keese. If Kiffen has a hair on his nuts he will send Nuke on a post pattern.

Snot will fly.

SEC Commissioner Mike Slive reprimanded Kiffin; go to www.secsports.com to read more.

If I were Urban Meyer, I'd grab a beer, get cozy with Shelley and have a good laugh over all this crap. On 9/19 it'll be WAR in The Swamp.

Good lord...

Sounds like the OBC had the right call back on day 0... are we really that sure Kiffin has taken and passed his NCAA recruiting exam?

I was afraid we would have nothing to talk about for a few months. I can't think of three worse coaches to piss off than; Urban, Spurrier and Saban???
What an idiot.

If UcheaT is having second thoughts about having hired this buffoon, they should be now.

So friggin' what if Kiffin "apologized" for that gaffe? It was weak, and I'll tell you why: He was defensive in explainnig the motive he had for saying what he did, and according to Gene Wojciechowski at ESPN, "actually tried to rationalize the fact that he had accused another coach of cheating."

Never mind some wussy-ass "apology", Kiffin should fess up to what he's done in the past and admit in front of Urban Meyer, Nick saban, Steve Spurrier and anybody else he's offended in the SEC that his behavior since taking the UT job has been, at times, unprofessional and embarrasing not only to himself, but the school he represents as well.

Sure some Gator fans have called Jeremy Foley's reaction very strong-worded, but hey, if the shoe fits. Foley deserves kudos for sticking up for Coach Meyer and having zero-tolerance for crap like this form an opposing coach.

Come the regular season, Kiffin will be forced to reap what he sows. If he can't, he'll be the laughingstock of the SEC and rightly so.

And one more thing: He can take that wussy "apology" of his and shove it up his ass.

This clown is just what we needed to heat things up in the SEC!!
He ought to talk to Mark R. about what it's like to reap the whirlwind when you Piss off Meyer and the Gators...

Rick, if the viles can't win with this buffoon, any bets on how long it'll take for the Jethro Nation to start calling for his head?
