38-24, 41-14, 31-28, 24-7, 20-14, 24-17, 21-14, 31-14, and 35-6.

Anonymous Buckeye, those are the beatdowns at the hands of the SEC to your overrated program. 0-9, a record of futility against the Southeastern Conference.

Again, 41-14.

With all due respect, I don't think crapping the bed is the right term for Ohio State's performance. They were, after all, in the game late, and half a football length away from stopping Texas on their game winning drive. Texas was clearly a better team, but I expected more from a team who beat Oklahoma by 10, and whose coach was lobbying for a share of the MNC.

Between this and the Cotton Bowl, it goes a long way to answering whether Big XII offenses are that good, or their defenses are that bad.

if pryor was a couple of years older, they may have won that game.

i know it must have been hard playing on the same field the got their teeth kicked in just two years ago.

the big ten just sucks ....

Anonymous said...

"Shooting themselves in the foot" would be a better term to describe how tOSU blew a chance to break their BCS drought.

And as for Texas, they only won by 3 - so much for these "power" defense of the Big 12 (LOL).

Anonymous said...

Did the Florida University even have a football team prior to 1990?

Oh, and 62-24. Even OSU has never suffered a beatdown that horrific in a bowl game.

Henry Louis Gomez said...

Touchy, touchy aren't we. I was actually rooting for OSU to unmask Texas as pretenders. And they pretty much did, except they managed to allow the Longhorns to drive the length of the field in under a minute. If you want to talk about ancient history I have to genuflect before the God of Ohio State football. But I'd rather live in the present.

Anonymous said...

1990 is ancient history?

I realize Gator fans think they are going to be great forever (because they play in the SEC!!!) but reality says otherwise. It's not easy to sustain a program over decades.

Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Michigan all have way better programs historically than Florida and look what happened to them.

Henry Louis Gomez said...

How many of the following occurred since 1990:

All time wins: 808, All Americans: 175, Heisman trophies: 7, Mythical Championships: 7

Your like the Georgia fans that cling to the All-time record against UF despite the fact that through most of their lives UF has had a winning record over UGA.

Anonymous said...

2 Heismans and 1 Mythical National Championship.

I don't feel like looking up the wins or All American numbers.

Listen, Florida football is great right now but face it, the program is a Johnny Come Lately in terms of college football. Trust me, no one would be shocked if Florida turned into the next Nebraska 10 years from now.

The arrogance of Florida fans is laughable. The majority of Gator fans have zero knowledge of the history of college football. They don't even no though history of their own program...as shitty as it is.

Any idea what the Big Ten's record is against the SEC over the last 24 bowl games?

12-12

If the Big Ten sucks so much why is the SEC just .500 against it in bowl games over the past decade?

Florida: 3 Heismans, 2 MNC
THE osu: 3 Heismans, 2 MNC

In the last 50 years:

Florida: 3 Heismans, 2 MNC
THE osu: 4 Heismans, 2 MNC

Anonymous said...

It's actually 4 Heismans and 4 MNCs (61,68,70,02). Although I don't really expect a Gator fan to know anything about college football prior to 1990.

Anonymous said...

This is like retards having a pillow fight. Both OSU and Florida are jokes compared to the Trojans.

Anonymous said...

Yeah USC, that one BCS Title is STRONG.

Anonymous said...

As for tOSU's 7 MNC's, huh? They have 5 "recognized" per CFDW - 42', 54', 57', 68' and 02'.

61' belongs to undefeated Alabama in the AP and Coaches' Poll, and 70' to Nebraska or Texas. You are making shit up.

Typical sexually-frustrated Ohio State fan. Were you the one caught masturbating in the public library?

http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1691888

Nice mustache, by the way.

Do you consider Princeton, Harvard, and Yale to be prestigious programs because they won national championships way before the Bucknuts did?

Anonymous said...

"Did the Florida University even have a football team prior to 1990?"

For starters, we're the UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA. Get it right.

And YES, we did have a team - do the names Charley Pell and Galen Hall ring a bell? We had decent teams, but since we were on probation we weren't able to go further.

Sounds like moRon Zook bitching about UF "not having a team before 1991." He still has sour grapes over our having shit-canned him back in 2004, which he rightly deserved.

"The arrogance of Florida fans is laughable. The majority of Gator fans have zero knowledge of the history of college football. They don't even no though history of their own program...as shitty as it is."

Yeah. Eight SEC championships, two National Championships and three Heisman winners are the hallmark of a shitty football program. Screw you and the horse you rode in on, too.

I know this is difficult to deal with but the days that Ohio State (and other Midwest teams for the matter) dominate college football are gone. Yes it is great that Ohio State is one of the winning programs in history, it is a great accomplishment, something each of the Buckeye faithful should be proud of. But the reality is the country (and more importantly in this case the elite athletes)are moving out of the Rust Belt and towards the warm weather. This is why college football has seen the rise of programs like Miami, Florida State, USC, and yes Florida over the past 20-25 years. And while there might be the occasional Big 10 team in the running for the National Championship over the next 20 years, they will be the exception more than the rule.

OSU claims '61 and '70 from the FWAA (Football Writers Association of America). They are ALL mythical anyway.

Also, are any of the SEC honks going to address The Big 10 going .500 against the SEC in bowl games over the past decade?

Agreed they are all mythical. But if Ohio State is claiming those (in what we will call "Alabama" style), then Florida has every right to 1984 in which most of the selectors choose the Gators.

"Agreed they are all mythical. But if Ohio State is claiming those (in what we will call "Alabama" style), then Florida has every right to 1984 in which most of the selectors choose the Gators."

The stink of it then was that we were on probation than. As much as Charley Pell started to build up the Florida football program, his downfall was that he couldn't keep his nose clean.

To Gator fans this is preaching to the choir, but to rivals who think they know more about Florida football than we do, I'm merely stating facts.

Henry Louis Gomez said...

anon that keeps harping about .500:

Bowl match-ups are nice to talk about but the teams that face each other are often not evenly paired. For example the Capital One Bowl takes the top non BCS team from each conference. But if one conference puts 2 teams into the BCS and the other puts only 1 in, then you have a mismatch in the Capital One Bowl (the third team vs. the second team).

Additionally just because a bowl selects the third team from a conference doesn't mean that's the third best team in that conference. Other factors play in like TV viewership, game attendance etc.

But for the sake of argument let's look at the BCS era.

In the BCS era the Big 10 champ has played the SEC champ twice. Both times the SEC prevailed. Other BCS match-ups among the conferences result in a 1-1 record.

BCS Bowls

2008: BCS CG #2 LSU beats #1 OSU 38-24

2007: BCS CG #2 Florida beats #1 OSU 41-14

2002: Sugar Bowl #13 LSU beats #8 Illinois 47-34

2000: Orange Bowl #8 Michigan beats #4 Alabama 35-34

So when the best have played the best (more or less the SEC is 3-1). It's a small sample size, granted. But until the Big 10 takes the lead, you can kindly STFU.

Anonymous said...

LOL...talk about a reach. I could feel you on my taint all way up here in the North.

So it's all about "match-ups" huh?

The Big Ten was only favored in one bowl game this year...Iowa. Who happened to win. I guess this means that the Big Ten actually had a great bowl season.

SEC is 12-12 over the last 24 bowl games against the Big 10.

.500

Yes, total domination.

Anonymous said...

Also, can you please detail the terrible "mis-matches" the SEC has had to endure against the Big Ten over the past decade. Please do so or kindly STFU.

Thanks in advance.

so, the past three years. OSU has proved to all the world except their own fans that they are overated. Come on guys. Take the Loss.and move on with life... Maybe next year. probably not. but maybe...SEC,SEC,SEC... Go gators..

Anonymous said...

OSU are sore losers. I was at the game. Actually rooting for OSU just because i cant stand the Big 12. They lost, and cried about it.OSU would be another South Carolina or Mississippi State in the SEC. You'd never run over this conference. You'd happily march your ass right back where u belong.

Please read these stats Buckeyes...

1978 Sugar Bowl: Alabama 35, Ohio State 6 - Woody Hayes

1990 Hall Of Fame Bowl: Auburn 31, Ohio State 14 - John Cooper

1993 Citrus Bowl: Georgia 21, Ohio State 14 - John Cooper

1995 Citrus Bowl: Alabama 24, Ohio State 14 - John Cooper

1996 Citrus Bowl: Tennessee 20, Ohio State 14 - John Cooper

2001 Outback Bowl: South Carolina 24, Ohio State 7 - John Cooper

2002 Outback Bowl: South Carolina 31, Ohio State 28 - Jim Tressel

2007 BCS Championship: Florida 41, Ohio State 14 - Jim Tressel

2008 BCS Championship: LSU 38, Ohio State 24 - Jim Tressel

0-9 come on. You can't beat an SEC team in a big game... cough, cough. i think someone choked! STFU

And Utah would dominate in the SEC.

12-12 in the last 24 games against the lowly Big Ten.

I'm still waiting for the break down of all the games where the Big Ten had such a huge advantage over the SEC in those bowl games. Games played in the SEC's backyard by the way. Must be nice never having to get on a plane.

All these "anonymous" posters arguing among themselves is making my head hurt. LOL

You'd think the "anonymous" guy who keeps harping on the 12-12 thing would have the guts to at least have a name. But then again he's a Suckeye fan, never mind :)

It's fun to argue about which conference is the best but looking at the winning percentages of each conference (against the other big conferences) over the last decade it appears that there is no clear cut, dominant conference:

Pac-10: 54.5%
SEC: 50.8 %
Big Ten: 50.5 %
ACC: 50.0%
Big 12: 48.8%
Big East: 45.9%

Some interesting stats:

- The Pac 10 is 30-23 against the Big 10
- The Big East is 17-8 against the SEC
- The ACC is 46-35 against the Big East

Shithead, why do you think Bowl games are generally played in warm weather cities?

I'll tell you why douchebag. It's because they are supposed to be a reward to the players. What kind of reward would it be to visit depressing Columbus or Ann Arbor in January?

You might want to read this twice since I know reading comprehension isn't very big in the south (much like dental hygiene and racial sensitivity).

You are making two arguments:

1. SEC > OSU

2. SEC > Big 10

The first is certainly true. The second is not.

.500 over the past decade. Or put another way: 12-12.

I'm still looking forward to the breakdown of the match-ups.

The University of Florida, Columbus Campus, seems to be getting their underarmor in quite the wad.

I'm not going to get involved in the Big Televen vs. SEC controversy, because I couldn't give a shit. I'd just really like one of you anonymous Bucknuts to tell us why y'all can't win a game down here.

Is it the weather? The lack of a conference championship game? The sweater vest gets itchy in the heat? Do we always get you in down years? Maybe we just deserve to win?

Don't keep hiding behind Michigan's and Penn State's records, Bucknuts. Time to explain your own record.
